GOVERNOR UDOM Emmanuel DOCKS MICAHAEL ITOK AMIDST TIGHT SECURITY

...Appears Pale, Battered And Dehydrated

The plot by the Department of State Security (DSS) and #GovernorUdomEmmanuel to secretly arraign citizen Michael Itok and send him to Prison was yesterday foiled at the Chief Magistrates’ Court premises, FULGA street, Uyo.

Michael Itok has been in the custody of the DSS since October 7, 2019 when he was trailed and whisked away by unidentified persons suspected to be operatives of the DSS acting on the orders of the governor. He was abducted from his office on Nwaniba road by men who came in a Hilux truck with Akwa Ibom registration number KPD 427 AA and ever since his whereabouts have been unknown as enquiries to the Police, DSS and other security outfits have turned up negative responses, thus fueling rumours of his death.

Trouble started for Michael Itok when he was alleged to have abandoned his employment with Governor Udom at Government House and took to his Facebook page to post news which Governor Udom has considered as nuisance.

Michael Itok was yesterday, smuggled into the Court premises at exactly 12.05pm in an unmarked, tinted, black Toyota Hilux truck with registration No. AG216UYY with armed security dressed in anti-riot gear. The plot to have him arraigned secretly was foiled when the security operatives realized there was a team of Lawyers on hand to represent Mr. Itok in Court. He was represented by Imo E. Akpan, Esq, Anthony Udonsa, Esq and E. E. Philip, Esq.

He was arraigned on a one count charge under the Akwa Ibom State Internal Security and Enforcement Law, 2009. The charge reads: “That you MICHAEL ITOK “M” and another now at large, sometimes in October, 2019 at 1000 units housing estate, Idu-Uruan, Uruan Local Government Area, within Uyo Magisterial District did constitute yourself into a nuisance by publishing damaging and annoying articles on your Facebook page with the aim of harassing, blackmailing and bringing to disrepute His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel and other staff of Akwa Ibom State Government House and thereby commits an offence punishable under Section 6(1)(f) of Akwa Ibom State Internal Security and Enforcement Law, 2009”.

He was remanded in prison immediately after the court session.
