Elections: NASS To Take Immediate Action On EU Recommendations President of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan says the 9th National Assembly will commence immediate action on some of the recommendations of the European Union Elections Observation Mission concerning the recently concluded General Elections. Specifically, he said the National Assembly would prioritize working on the Electoral Act Amendment Bill to ensure more credible and acceptable electoral processes in the future. “I am sure that this time around, we will start considering those issues that we feel require urgent legislative intervention,” he said during a meeting with the EU EOM delegation at his office on Tuesday. AKHA SPEAKER CONSTITUTES AD-HOC COMMITTEE ON WELFARE, SELECTION The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Aniekan Bassey has announced the constitution of an ad-hoc committee on welfare for the 7th Assembly. The Speaker made the announcement during Tuesday's plenary. The committee which is headed by the member representing Ini State Constituency and Chief Whip of the House, Rt Hon Emmanuel Bassey Ekpenyong, is to look into the welfare of members pending the constitution of standing committees. Members of the committee include; The Deputy Chief Whip Rt. Hon. (Otuekong) Nse Essien, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko, Rt. Hon Idongesit Ntekpere, Hon Mfon Idung, Hon Godwin Ekpo. Others are Hon.
